I recently went on a hunt for alternatives to tinyurl.com, just to see how many there are out there. The concept and implementation are simple. My company runs one, too—flq.us. As you can see, there are quite a few.

It's interesting that even with all this competition, tinyurl.com has almost cornered the market. I've seen some use of urltea.com and maybe single instances of a few more.
